Project Prom Queen 2015:Teen Mom Exclusive

Sh'Niqua Alford"The Project Prom Queen was an amazing event for the district!  Often times, students that are pregnant or parenting feel they are unworthy of attending prom. They sometimes are not able to afford it and their level of self esteem also affects how they feel about themselves. Having a baby alters your body, and sometimes they just don’t feel pretty enough for prom.  The Project Prom Queen helped combat both of these barriers.  Providing free dresses, accessories, and hair and makeup tips really showed these girls that they are indeed still beautiful, and you made attending their high school prom a reality.  I sincerely thank you again and appreciate your time and effort to making this such a special event for such a special population of students."    -Sh'Niqua Alford, LMSW TAPPS/Foster Care Coordinator

"The students at Cardwell loved being pampered.  Each one of the them came away feeling special.  Most of the students at my school are already parents, this gave them the opportunity for someone to take care of them instead of them taking care of the someone.  They got to be regular teenagers for a few hours".   -Tracy Womble
